On the 27 – 28 February 2016 we 100 Guru Bali (1000 Teachers Bali Regional) community visiting Singaraja Village at SD 5 Pakisan, Kubutambahan to Travel and Teaching (TNT). This is our fourth TNT and this was the most hard and challenging TNT that we have ever arranged compare to the previous TNT. The school is located on the top of the hill, the only access to go to the school is by passing the main road that has been damage and it is not able to pass by car, our truck had to park on the bottom of the hill and we have to walk 3 km up to the hill carrying the donation that took us almost one and half hours.
While I walk to the school I met with several local people who majority of them is working as a clove farmer, we talked for a minute and they said that this is the main and only road to get to the school and houses for some of the people who live on the hill, the road has been damage for several years and there is no any attention from local council. They also told me that majority of the student live on the bottom of the hill have to walk every day when they going to school, and it can be more challenging when rainy season like this month since the road will be more slippery and dangerous
After one and half hours walking up and down finally we arrive at the School, when we arrived we saw all the student has been waiting for us from the above, since their school is bit higher from the ground. All the student smiling and shy when looking at us, some of the calling us and some of them giggling to each other since there are a lot of new people visiting their school. The school has around ten rooms, six class room, one principle room and the rest is empty room to keep all the school broken chair and table. We greetings them and introduce our self to them and then we went to their class to teach and playing games. The school is quite big, at the back of the school it has an empty filed where the students normally playing soccer and traditional games this field directly facing to the canyon without any fence. I asked one of the student since they used to play soccer in this field what happen when they kick the ball and it fall to the canyon and they said they have to get down carefully to get the ball, so ho kicked it they have to get it.
I stayed at the school for 2 days 1 night, at night I slept in one of classroom with my sleeping bag shared with 30 volunteer. During the night it was beautiful, it is soo quiet (since I lived in the city where every night all the bar and pub just started to open and it is really noisy) I guess really enjoy my peaceful night at this school.
The next day I woke up at five in the morning, we all prepare to clean the room before having our breakfast all the student came to school even though it was Sunday to say goodbye. Some of student even walked us down to the hill to get into our truck, it is much easier to go down compare when we going up, we talk with the student some student cried when finally we finally get in to the truck.
We promise to them that we will back soon to visit them and play with them again.
